Services we offer

growth

My approach focuses on the individual and/or family’s unique strengths to foster resiliency, change, and growth. I believe psychological services should be tailored to the individual, child/family. Therapy approaches I use include solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, and play therapy for children. I will often suggest clients to practice strategies between sessions or write brief notes about their goals. I believe therapy is about change, and we can only change if we challenge ourselves.

Parent counselling and consultation

Parents and guardians are often the best experts of their own children; however, they may feel helpless or lost in how to best understand or support their child’s or teen’s challenging behavior and emotions. Parent consultation can help parents increase their awareness and implement approaches or strategies to improve their child’s behavior and strengthen their parent-child relationship. I also offer consultation to a child’s teacher/school personnel to help provide input and support into social/emotional support in the school setting. In addition, I offer consultation to medical professionals to help inform treatment plans, resourcing, and discuss progress of treatment.

Mental Health assessment

A mental health assessment may help identify and diagnose a mental health issue, aide in developing treatment plans, and help inform treatment effectiveness and progress. The assessment process typically involves gathering information from the person and/ or others in the person’s life (i.e. a child’s parents, teacher), clinical observations, and questionnaires or standardized measures. I offer assessment for mental health issues such as anxiety, depression PTSD and trauma for children, youth, and adults. If you require other types of assessment, such as investigating cognitive abilities or learning/academic needs, I make recommendations for appropriate referrals.

how it works

step one

Hello and thank you for seeking help! Contact us via our booking link or contact form to inquire about counselling services, and how I may be of help. You can book a complimentary 15 min consultation meeting to see if we are good fit. Just click the BOOK APPOINTMENT button.

step two

Once you book your first session or consultation we will send you an intake package via email so you can feel informed and know what to expect.

step three

Attend your first session, where we will review the paperwork, discuss consent, and explore your rights as a client (i.e. privacy). You can share as much or as little as you like about your concerns and experiences. We hope to help you to create goals for change.

We can typically see new clients within 1-2 weeks of your initial booking inquiry. We also offer a complimentary 15-minute phone call or meet and greet prior to scheduling a session. As counselling is a very personal process it is important to see if you and I would be a good fit. We offer both in person and virtual sessions (phone or video).

fees

Fees for Psychological Services are not covered under Alberta Health Care. I follow the recommended fee schedule as set by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. My fee is $220 for a 50 min session and is due at the time of session, payable via e-transfer through on-line banking. Receipts for fees paid will be issued at the end of your session and these can be submitted for full or partial coverage through most extended health care benefits insurance programs (e.g., Sunlife, Manulife, etc.).

I do offer direct billing for certain insurance companies-Canada Life, Alberta Blue Cross, and Greenshield. I am an approved provider for the Calgary Police Service. I also offer a sliding scale (please contact me for more details).

I ask for 24 hours notice to cancel or change an appointment otherwise you may be billed for $90. Also if you need to communicate between appointments, any discussion with yourself or third parties (i.e. Dr.’s, teacher, insurance company) will be billed on a pro-rated basis according to my hourly rate.

Effective January 1st 2023 my fees will be increasing to $220/session.
